I Use AI Every Day. I Still Don’t Fully Trust It. Here’s Why That’s Okay.

You’ve probably used AI today already. Maybe it wrote an email for you. Maybe it helped you brainstorm a caption, build a spreadsheet formula, or write a few lines of code.

And if you’re anything like me, some small part of you paused for a second and thought: can I actually trust this?

Let’s talk about that. Because I don’t think enough people are saying it out loud.

The Moment That Made Me Stop and Think

This week I was building a small tool using AI to help me code. That’s not new for me. I do it often. But I always follow the same rule, one I picked up from 24 years as a software developer: after AI writes code, I have it run its own security check. I ask it to look for vulnerabilities, weak points, anything that could cause a problem down the road.

This time, it found some.

In its own code.

And that stopped me for a second. Because here’s the question that followed me around for the rest of the day:

Why didn’t it catch that the first time? Why did I have to ask?

That’s the part that gets me. Not that AI made a mistake. Mistakes happen, tools fail, that’s normal. What got me was that the check wasn’t automatic. It only happened because I knew to ask for it.

If You’re Not Technical, This Should Matter to You Even More

Here’s the thing I keep coming back to. Because I have a technical background, I know to ask the follow-up question. I know what a vulnerability check even is. I know what to look for when something feels off.

But you might not. And that’s not a knock on you. It’s just not your job to know that. You’re running a business, managing leads, trying to grow, trying to keep your head above water. You shouldn’t have to become a cybersecurity expert just to use a tool that’s supposed to save you time.

That gap, between what AI can do and what people actually know to check for, is exactly where things go wrong. Not because AI is bad. Because it’s being used without anyone standing in the gap to catch what it misses.

Trust With AI Isn’t Something You Give. It’s Something You Build.

I’m not telling you to abandon AI. I use it every single day, and it’s made a real difference in how fast I can build, create, and solve problems.

But trust isn’t a switch you flip on. It’s built the same way you’d build trust with a new employee or a new business partner. Slowly, by checking their work, seeing where they’re strong, and knowing exactly where they need a second set of eyes.

The businesses and creators who are going to win with AI over the next few years aren’t the ones who trust it blindly. They’re the ones who know how to use it and know when to double-check it.

That’s the whole reason I do what I do. I’m not here to convince you AI is magic. I’m here to help you actually understand it. What it’s good at, where it needs supervision, and how to use it in a way that actually moves your business forward instead of creating new problems you didn’t know to look for.

Where This Actually Shows Up in Business

This isn’t just a “coding” problem. The same gap shows up everywhere AI touches your business:

  • AI chatbots handling your leads, and missing follow-ups because nobody set them up right
  • Automated email sequences that sound robotic instead of like you
  • Lead generation tools that collect leads but never actually nurture them
  • Growth systems that look automated on the surface but are quietly leaking opportunities underneath

Just like that code, these systems can look like they’re working while something important slips through unchecked.

So, What Do You Do With This?

Simple. You don’t need to become an AI expert. You just need someone in your corner who already is one. Someone who checks the work, closes the gaps, and builds the systems the right way the first time.

That’s exactly what I help people do.

If you’re ready to actually use AI and tech the right way in your business, whether that’s learning it yourself, getting hands-on coaching, or having it done for you completely. I can help with:

  • Lead generation systems that actually bring in the right people
  • Lead follow-up automation so no opportunity slips through the cracks
  • Growth strategy built around tools that work for you, not just tools that sound impressive

You don’t have to figure this out alone, and you definitely don’t have to become the person who catches every mistake before it costs you a customer.

👉 Reach out today and let’s talk about what learning, coaching, or a fully done-for-you AI & Tech system could look like for your business. Whether you’re just curious or ready to build, I’m here to help you bridge the gap from curiosity to implementation.

Because the businesses winning with AI right now aren’t the ones with the fanciest tools. They’re the ones who trust it and verify it, every time.
